Re: World Games in Colombia
Thanks for the support guys, it's great to know there are people back home following what we're doing out here.
A wee request for tomorrow: the middle distance and sprint relay areas overlap. The organisers have said they are taking our maps off us as soon as we finish and not giving them back until after the relay. So could someone take screen grabs of the tracking and email them over to us to help our relay prep? rocky (at) this website will reach me.
Thanks

Re: World Games in Colombia
Well, it's not Jukola, but I thought everything today: area, map, courses, tracking, TV, commentary, teams (except Finland), performances, was good enough. I've put some screencaps etc on the blog http://reentrant.wordpress.com/
I suppose if Team GB were taking this competition really seriously we might rest Tessa and Scott tomorrow (I think Scott has already said he might have the day off) since we don't want to scupper our (very good) chances in the relay.

Good effort, looking forward to the middle and relay now - and vv excited about Doctor Crocker. Nice and warm in Roseisle today, but you're not missing out on sanddune practice.

Forres and Nairn will be used to stage the Mixed Sprint Relay, Sprint Qualifiers and Sprint Final. Embargoes as published in Bulletin 1 remain in place for all other areas.

Re: World Games in Colombia
I drove madly up the M6 to just catch the men's sprint. Fantastic results all round and it is only a matter of time before Murray and the ladies gets something to hang around their necks. The class is there born from natural talent and hard graft; and class is times-ed 4 for the mixed relay sprint. Adrian's blog made such good sense; the middle distance and relay sprint areas are adjacent so knowledge of the middle distance may give confidence for Sunday. I cannot do the tecky bit and take these shots of the area/tracking etc but I can give you my support. Yes we are cheering you all the way as you make us proud by flying the GB orienteering flag.

Re: World Games in Colombia
Today it's definitely a case of orienteering-but-not-as-you-know it. I hope someone takes a headcam around, it'd be interesting to see what all that green forest is actually like. Tessa lost 2 minutes choosing the wrong way to go into a control - there's a lot of guesswork involved by the look of it. The closest thing I can think of is orienteering at Rosliston (DVO)

Re: World Games in Colombia
Can't the athletes just see the map by looking at the tracking? But I've put it up somewhere online.
Another phenomenal performance by Kyburz today, and another bronze medal lost on the run-in.
I suppose it was no surprise that Scott retired, but it looked like he turned his gps off - is that allowed?

Re: World Games in Colombia
Yes, but that's sadly (?) typical of the World Games. Notes about today: http://reentrant.wordpress.com/2013/08/ ... ering-jim/
I was so busy watching events in Cali I forgot about the long distance in Scotland... (Quite a contrast in areas!) and whoof a tough event for the last day! Surprised anyone had the energy to drive home...
