I always thought Final Details were too formulaic / uninteresting ("the forest is a mixture of runnable and less runnable woodland", "take care crossing streams", blablabla), so having something a bit more interesting is good. I think final details should excite you about the race rather than just provide technical stuff.
I suppose for a "serious" competition it may be felt to be inappropriate but then many orienteers have a pretty good sense of humour!
(I still didn't get the leopard joke but that's probably just me)

Has anyone tested the effectiveness of whitles in repelling leopards?
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

There is no evidence that whistles provide any effective protection against leopards or ticks. For this reason, whistles are not required in the sprint, although they may be carried at your own risk.
