Returning for a second year (with a few alterations), I will be hosting another event at Westfield Stratford City. It will be on the 11th August and feature a 45 minute score with compulsory controls and a parent & child mini score. Every competitor will receive vouchers to spend in the shopping centre and like last time, some of your entry fee will be donated to a local charity. There will also be special prizes for the parent & child race.
Further details to follow soon
Save the date - 11th August 2013!

You might need to be careful, these sound like RunChallenge and XPlorer! BOF might have you for breach of trademark.

Can I suggest individual starts, even at 30 sec intervals, rather than mass starts to avoid just a following chase? Enjoyed it last year and can recommend this different form of 'o'..
You can still have a 45 min score format with regular starts.

nooomember, we are restricted by the centre opening times. A score is the only way to guarantee everyone will be back by a certain time. Glad you enjoyed it last time, hope to see you again.

Mass starts are good! It doesn't matter if people follow each other.

Off course it matters - and its against the rules (if an advantage is gained) as well as good sportsmanship.

In mass start score events it is almost inevitable that people are followed, so it is unenforceable even if in the rules (which I doubt).

Rule 26 covers it in general terms!
26. Fair play
26.1 All persons taking part in an orienteering event shall behave with fairness and
honesty. They shall have a sporting attitude and a spirit of friendship. Competitors
shall show respect for each other, for officials, journalists, spectators and the
inhabitants of the competition area. The competitors shall be as quiet as possible in
the terrain.
| 26.2 Except in the case of an accident, seeking to obtain or obtaining assistance from other runners or providing assistance to other competitors during a competition is forbidden. It is the duty of all competitors to help injured runners.

I think I've found a loophole.
So I turn up with my left pinkie bandaged and accost Scott Fraser, and he is duty bound to help me round the course - result - I'll take 2nd, or even 3rd!

Nah! Won't work ... if he slows down enough to help you there's no chance he'd win so you wouldn't be 2nd or even 3rd!

It is with regret that I must inform you that this event will be postponed until Spring 2014. Due to reasons out of my control, I have been unable to finalise plans for this years event. I apologise to anyone that has been inconvenienced but with more access around the Olympic Park, the event promises to be bigger than ever! See you in the Spring.
