Enjoy orienteering with your best friend? Are you fed up of leaving your dog tied up in the car park?
Well here in Sunlit Forres, on Saturday 29th June, we have the answer to all your problems.
Piping Hot Forres is the name for the European Pipe Band Championships, and Piping Hot Dog-O is what we're bringing to the party. Imagine 120 massed pipe bands parading with over 5,000 pipers and drummers at the finale. Imagine 100 hyped-up dogs all trying to find the bonus 'smelly' control hidden somewhere up on Cluny Hill. If it appeals, give it a try.
But be warned. DOGS COMPULSORY. Any one caught orienteering unsupervised by a dog will be charged with bringing the game in to disrepute. Sniff out the details on Moravian's web site if you want to know more. http://www.moravianorienteering.org/events/grant-park-cluny-hill-piping-hot-dog-o-canine-o-celebration-european-pipe-band-champs-sat-29-

Re: Dogs Compulsory
Definitely worth taking a Peke at Gross at though there are a couple of (ma)stiff climbs to contend with.

Re: Dogs Compulsory
Actually will be responsible for a colleague's dog then - but a few hundred miles away, so too far for us to travel.
How will the dogs cope with the piping competition? Yesterday, at end of my Cambridge University invigilating duties, I was surprised to meet 2 students with a dog on a lead in the bike park area - they admitted that their dog had found the boisterous end of exams celebrations, noisy humans, sparling wine bottles etc a bit hard to take.

Re: Dogs Compulsory
My ex-dag would have been scared stiff by a pipe band - there would have been no way she'd move towards the noise. I suspect 5-10% of dogs would react similarly.

Re: Dogs Compulsory
We are talking about Scottie dogs here - surely they have been bred to put up with the wail of the pipes?

Anyone care to bring their Rotwailer? Come on folks, there must be some better dog puns out there, or is this too frivolous for Nope? Stuck in the pub at Dyce having missed my train home from the Sportscotland Regional Networking event by 1 minute
. Still looking for inspiration after 2 pints.

Dog Quiz
I heard every control was a dog leg... But some aspects of the event confuse me
Who will punch first?
Who planned the course?
Who's coming from the local running club?
Who will be moaning (as usual)?
Who will get the controls in?
Who's doing the timing?
Who's got the drinks?
Who's making sure the controls aren't stolen?
What's that vague site between the hills?
