I am pleased to announce the (soft) launch of SnapNav. A brand new orienteering app available for iOS. Full details are on the website www.snapnav.co.uk. At this stage we only have two sites for testing purposes but we have plans to add plenty more in the future. If you know any sites that would be suitable for inclusion, then please feel free to contact me.
Further updates will be available soon,
Regards

Re: SnapNav - Orienteering app
Hi Josh - we were discussing this in the virtual / social poc thread. Someone a bit more clued up than me thought:
Can you tell us a bit more about what would make an existing course compatible or otherwise?
Josh Jenner's photo-recognition approach avoids some of these hurdles, and for someone creating a new course without the issue of compatibility with other local courses, there's a lot to be said for it. However, for our courses, the cost and effort involved in changing every single control is more than I'd be willing to contemplate.
Can you tell us a bit more about what would make an existing course compatible or otherwise?

Thanks for your response Marian,
The app is designed to work with traditional POC plaques (see attached photo) . The colour is not important as it recognises shapes in the two corners. There is no problem with compatibility because each course is unique and controls can be used on multiple courses. Think of it being exactly the same as SI but replace controls with plaques and dibbers with phones.

sounds good - our local course on Sandwell Valley has those plaques and has three courses printed on the reverse; will get it registered with you and collar the family iPhone!

Re: SnapNav - Orienteering app
I am having trouble printing out the Oxhey course leaflet. All the content prints sharply except for the map which is a bit blurred on screen and on the printout. Can you help, please?

Thanks for this. I will get another copy uploaded. In the meantime, I have a stack of printed leaflets, would you like me to post you some? Email me your address info@joshjenner.co.uk
