You're on the results table with 1574 Andy. I've no idea how good that is...!

Re: Online TrailO competition - compete with world's best
I thought I'd try this but couldn't even see how to start - maybe that's why I don't have a smart phone!
Perhaps if you couldn't start like me, you'd be hopeless anyway.
Any chance of getting something similar put up on a UK site with simple english instructions, JK?

@Mharky
Biathlon rapid fire is basically the technique I used when I did O-biathlon at O-Ringen. The commentators announced that I could win if I shot fast and clear so I went for it. Having said that you had to reload each shot, but as it was standing position I had minimal chance of hitting the targets.
I also found myself just punching the nearest control in a multi-looped micro-O mass start in Hungary, After each loop you did penalty loops for wrong controls. I wasn't certain if it was the kite I as at or another one I'd have to dog-leg to. So I went for nearest and got it wrong - so a reasonable gamble.
Aspects of these for orienteering might make for better TV excitement than mass-start sprint which I am have still to be convinced about: Sprint/Urban are fine; Mass-start can be fine; bit maybe not the two together. Anyway let's see how it goes this pm.

@Oldman
1. Go to www.trailo.it and click on TempO Game
2. Click on Green button "Play"
3. Register if you haven't done so
If you have registered OK then you should be able to see the test problems. If they don't work then it might be Java edition or some other tech issue like that

Thanks, JK. I actually wanted to try the training first but could not call that up. Suggestions? I also note the UK flag is upside down!

Upside down? No it isn't.
Try turning what is there upside down and it will be unchanged.
...
Which in itself signifies that something is wrong!
My theory:
The NE and SW quadrants are correct.
The SE and NW ones are wrong IMO.
I'll ask Marco to take a look

Re: Online TrailO competition - compete with world's best
Nice to see so many guys trying the TempO.
TempO is the form of TrailO that will appeal to many O-ers.
* Doesn't take so long to do for a full course and you only need 2 or 3
stations for a worthwhile activity, so it doesn't add 2.5 hours away from your
family
* Map does need such finessing since you only get to view it from
one angle and only for a few seconds
* Less technical-ness in terms of lining things up and contour tracing, etc.
Pretty much what you see is what you get and Foot-O guys can do well even on their
first go.
now the flipside
* it works best with 3+ guys at each station - so you need quite a few volunteers.
* areas like JK Sprint area this year would have made a great TempO course. Now the course that we did was a very good TrailO one, but as well as the extra volunteers
we'd have needed to prevent everyone walking through the area first. The way the course was setup this didn't affect the Trail-O, but it would have made a huge difference for TempO
This year there'll be a World Champs TempO for the first time (previous versions were Trophy events only) and apart from WTOC 2012, the last UK event was at the NI JK so lets get some volunteers to put on some events
