There is an online TempO (speed Trail-O) competition:
http://www.trailo.it
My tips: try the examples, and the ones from the 1st online TempO competition, before going for the current competition.
How does it work?
Instructions are given, but in a nutshell:
* Each station has a single photo and about 5 problems,
* Each problem has its own map, control description and compass rose
* It is against the clock, time runs continuously in each station till all problems
are answered
* 30s for a wrong answer so don't spend too long
* Each problem is A-F and Zs (no flag is correct) are possible
Let's get some GB guys up there on the leaderboard!

I see a few of you are giving it a go (at least one very good score too).
What do you think?
Fun? Good training? Interesting?

that's really good! I'm not particularly great at it. would be easier if they told you where you were on the map section, not all particularly well lined up..

Re: Online TrailO competition - compete with world's best
If you were told where you were it'd be a little easy. In Elite, neither Trail-O nor TempO should ever tell you where you are.
Anyway 2 Brits have beaten my score. MANIX (I have a feeling I know who that one is) is leading Brit.

You still got some good scalps.
I hear rumours that one brit answered ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ - that isn't considered sporting behaviour!

They should probably adjust the rules to stop it.
I've often wondered in biathlon if you were a very good skiier and a very bad shooter that it would be better to just rapid fire and take the penalty loops.

LOL - you beat me to it. Sorry again - I just wanted to prevent any mroe guys doing it.
I think the other guy's results were removed, but I did notice at WTOC last year that
that strategy (which is legal) would still give a reasonable score. As it turned out I'd have got a few positions higher had I adopted that approach. Then again my eventual position was pretty naff so far better to do it properly and try and get a better score rather than guaranteeing a mediocre one.

Sorry I misread a FB post and the "smart guy" who did ZZZZZZ wasn't a brit. I thought it was a personal email from the organiser, but it was a group posting.

How do you start the competiton? I think I just did 3 maps for it (didn't get any results back anyway) but can't find any way to do any more, am not on the results list and it's all a bit confusing really. Any pointers as to where I've gone wrong?

You have to register for the competition, then log in, on the right are the links to the 11(?) rounds, once you've completed them it goes back to the main results scree. It takes a while for the scores to be uploaded.
