Re: SOA Champs results
I've just uploaded them
Scottish Champs Individual results
They were sent to me late last night but I've been away (not at the champs). I don't know if they are the final ones or if there are any updates but no doubt the organisers will be in touch with me if there are any changes.
No news of relay results yet.

Cheers Paul. I know the small organising team was working very hard yesterday and today to get things up. Really nice areas and fantastic weather as well. Great weekend!

Re: SOA Champs results
A really nice event helped by fabulous weather.
But why do BOF try to sabotage the national champs of a constituent country by deciding to nominate a different event on the same weekend in their imposed UKOL (particularly considering that the extant UK relay league inludes the Scottish relays
)
BOF create level A events and then twice they have nominated clashing events as UKOL. Clearly a lack of any sort of joined up thinking.
Full marks to the organising clubs for continuing to put in real effort to make the events a cut above the average this weekend.

Re: SOA Champs results
Agree with Eddie - really enjoyable couple of days orienteering - shame there werent more people there to enjoy it.
A quick look at the SINS results suggests that few if indeed any Scots decided to head south for the UKOL status SINS event. However I suspect had there not been this clash, maybe more might have headed north for the Scottish. As it was, its interesting to note that almost twice as many non-Scots attended in comparison to the two Aberdeenshire clubs, suggesting location was at least in part an issue for some non-attendance.
Its certainly possible that the Scottish Champs may be in more of a spotlight over the enxt couple of years leading up to WOC and therefore might benefit from wider marketing, but Eddie is right, it doesnt make sense for Scotlands National Championship to be pitched against a BOF UKOL event, especially when the UK Relay league clashes. Full marks to the SHUOC guys who came, saw and conquered, and were also probably the best presented on the relay rostrum too!

Re: SOA Champs results
Agree that such a clash is silly. I would have gone to both events had they been separated by a week. Especially as the JK and BOC were so far south this year.
As usual, very enjoyable events put on by the Scots. Thanks

Re: SOA Champs results
We would have gone to neither: it's been a long season of expensive weekends away, and these would have both been one (or two) too far. As it was, we enjoyed the Yorkshire urban double header, now smaller than maybe in the past, but excellent value, and both within an hour of home (York via public transport).

Re: SOA Champs results
Problem is both SINS and Scottish Champs require a Bank Holiday weekend, and there are not too many of those available.
The same two events are already scheduled to clash again in 2015.
Before UKOL I suspect it was considered that they are far enough apart geographically for this not to matter.
