BOC can't compete with Tio Mila, understand why elite are there.
BOC weather now seems fine for Sunday, but some rain on Saturday pm?

I understand totally and agree that they should be at Tio. Was surprised Lard thought it worthy of comment as it'ssuch an old chestnut.

Re: BOC 2013
Elites don't run BEOC. They run BEOC, for which they, the elites, have control over the date. Having BEOC this weekend is the decision of the elite's representatives, nobody else.
Very few BOC competitors choose to go to Tiomila. Admittedly our top W35 isn't at BOC, but she was unlikely to run it anyway on account of the clash with BEOC.

Re: BOC 2013
Some squad athletes are in Sweden doing TioMila, but there are also many in the start list for the British. Those who are based in Sweden might not feel able to run here even if there wasn't a clash with TioMila, because running BOC tomorrow would debar them from competing in any Swedish Championships.
I think it's as much a clash for orienteers who like to follow TioMila, a sleepless night not being the best preparation for the British Relays!
Out of interest the following squad athletes seem to be in the initial start lists for TioMila
(apologies for any omissions)
Claire Ward (Tisaren)
Helen Palmer, Kris Jones and Matt Speake (Lillomarka)
Catherine Taylor (Linne)
Charlotte Watson and Dave Schorah (Ravinen)
Doug Tullie (Turun Metsankavijat)
Graham Gristwood and Ralph Street (Sodertalje-Nykvarn)
Jess Orr, Rose Hodkinson, Sarah-Jane Gaffney, Nick Barrable, Josh Beech, maybe others, are also running.

Re: BOC 2013
Memo to future BOC organisers (actually as it should be NEOA next I should probably keep quiet as I'll be volunteered) Live Results GREAT but could be improved if I could search against club so I can facebook or tweet as clubmates finish
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

Re: BOC 2013
...... May have been good in the area but on the internet the "live" results were extremely erratic, with only a few classes having any results up
...... still only 3 finishers in M21E according to the "live" results.
British Orienteering seems incapable of doing the most simple live results let alone, with radio controls, GPS tracking, commentry or TV!

Re: BOC 2013
I have given up with the on site results service. I never got them working at the JK, the British sprint ao the middle. Today I was on the phone to Margaret an hour after I'd finished as a "late" starter - apparently I was first out of 3

Many thanks of an enjoyable day.
The results seemed nearly live to me standing by the results boards
