Re: British Sprints
Any chance the rules could be amended to say there shall be a string course (or alternative) provided? It's all so visible and exciting at sprint events for the kids, and yet they can't take part in anything
"5.2.5 Pre entry and entry on the day non championship courses shall be provided. Appropriate courses may be String, off String, White, Yellow and Orange."

Re: British Sprints
There has been an interesting clarification in the final detail. There was a slightly puzzling reference to multi-level areas. This has now been updated to state:
"Competitors on longer courses in the Finals may encounter a complex multi-level area. The map correctly represents the running level, but there are two points where it would be possible to run off of this level and onto the upper level. There will be signs in the terrain at these points to warn runners that they are running off the map."
So I take it that there will only be a single 'running' level for the event at any point (apart perhaps from some bridges/underpasses).

Re: British Sprints
So when do 'Final Details' become final details?
The bit about the temporaily impassable fence in the final has also been removed.
Anything else I need to know?

Re: British Sprints
Don't worry about any of it DavidJ. *Does it matter who starts where?* and I certainly don't want to spend time googling the area. I love to pick up the map and run - not having a clue what it looks like is a bonus as far as I'm concerned.
I wouldn't even know anything about multilevels if it hadn't come up on this thread.
* I reiterate it's not a good idea to follow me. Mike has given further reason why not

That's easy for you to say. But you are the top ranked person in my heat and off just a few minutes behind me. I need to use every possible aid to try and stay ahead of you. And if you do pass me, despite your advice, perhaps I will try and keep up with you! Should be fun.

Re: British Sprints
Does anyone know how many runners there will be in B & C finals? Last year just about everyone ran in a B final so my aims in the heat were to run steadily and carefully to conserve energy for the final and avoid mispunching at all costs. The final details mention C & D courses for the finals so I might need to change tactics.

Just as well that I decided to look at the final details - I was going to go to Nottingham University

Nice place Nottingham University and the home (ex-home?) of a NOC stalwart (and me) but it'll be a bit quieter than Loughborough!
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

They look like tough heats! Interesting start order, with the top runners starting 6-8 places before the last in each heat
