JK reinstatements
Given the trouble we had with EMIT, I think the decision to reinstate people with only one missing punch and no obvious mispunch is a good one. Bit surprised they didn't announce it more clearly though.

Day 3 results were available online last night, and still appear to be working ok now.

Back to the actual topic.
Can anyone explain exactly what reinstatements were necessary and what basis was used ?
Sounds fascinating.

Re: JK reinstatements
Somewhat off top. There were a good number of late starters whose scheduled start times were used. Notably an M65 who missed his start both days, and by 35 min on Day 3 because he didn't put his clock forward
. He would have won Day 2 by a margin
. His extended times have been included in the results and presumably taken into account in the ranking calculations. Doesn't this have a distorting effect on everyone's ranking points?

Re: JK reinstatements
Not sure of the reasons for reinstatement. If controls too close etc fine but surely if we are told we have to punch each one and get a pin prick on the card then that should apply. It sounds a little unfair to say that competitors can be reinstated if one pin prick is missing. Because loads of us had to forfeit time to ensure the brick was in the block in the right direction.
Is emit managed the same way abroad. I have used it in Belgium and Denmark but spent the extra time to get pin punches, it seems to me we might as well struggle to find a swinging pin punch attached to the control as battle to put the brick in the right way round to get an impression on the card.

Re: JK reinstatements
a Norwegian friend who came over to run M60S at JK has never used anything other than Emit in Norway, has never come across SI, has never tried to put the entire Emit brikke into the unit and has never had any problems with disqualification with just watching for the red light. He was mystified and amused at all the contortions going on at control sites.
I only get to events that use Emit a couple of times a year and admit to being a contortionist still, but I think he's persuaded me just to be a red-light watcher at all future Emit events. Life is too short to keep trying to get back-up punches on the little card!
