When and where is the final?
And if we (CLOK) did get through, it wasn't for my lack of trying to cock my run up! You don't go 5->11->6

I've just presented my calculation of the results at Slaley for checking - I think CLOK and NN are the winners but as I said it needs checking especially as some teams have had to lose scores because they had too many counters on courses.
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

Should be interesting - haven't looked at the Trophy, but my calculations agree with seabird. Being pernickety - you can't have too many counters on courses - you can have a as many scorers as you like, but the maximum number of counters from any one course or (in the case of Light Green and Orange) combination of courses is defined in the rules. If you have more scorers than those limits, those left over are just not counters, but they still score to possibly reduce the scores of counters from other clubs.
I think Aire, CLOK and NATO got their 25 counters, but Ebor's distribution meant they only counted 24.
Could be wrong though, of course!

Working on it !
At the moment it does look like Aire from CLOK but as every person's numbers seem to differ (for Hitchhikers fans) the rules of bistromatics seem to apply and we'll make sure it's right before we post officially.

That was SYO's mistake. 6 good scores on Light Green, but only 4 could count. If one (more- Aidan Smith already did) of the M18's had run up to Brown they would almost certainly have scored sufficient points to beat DVO.
Nevertheless, congratulations to DVO. It was our fault for getting our tactics wrong.
Not to mention a rather meagre turnout...

It was the start of half-term week darn sarf and quite a few of our regulars were away on holiday.

Re: CompassSport Cup/Trophy
In the South East heat, 2 of the 7 cup clubs, and 5 out of 8 trophy clubs didn't have enough runners for a full team. Is this typical of other heats?

It was the end of half term week for others (I think only Cambridgeshire) - with similar consequences of regulars away on holidays.

Maybe it's an AIRE bias but like AWK and seabird; I think Aire beat CLOK (only just).
Well at least I hope so, as I let the team down by having an awful run AND spectacularly mis-punching before accusing download of getting it wrong! (Sorry again, and thanks for letting me be frustrated).

Given that all the results processing is computerised, and several events seem to have had software to calculate the final team positions before competitors left, why are we still waiting for some results to be calculated 24 hours later ?

Re: CompassSport Cup/Trophy
I thought there was a clever computer programme that told you the definite answer in real-time (taking into account all the constraints)? Which would of course kill all that calculating fun you're having (sorry).
At the SE heats we had a screen up that showed the real time standings and I don't think they changed between when the event finished and what was uploaded to the site - unless of course there are any protests, runners having wrong club or age class or whatever.
I had presumed someone clever had written the required algorithm and everyone was using it..

Re: CompassSport Cup/Trophy
I also calculated (at least 3 times to be sure) that EPOC (1269) well and truly beat NN (1237) at Slaley. NATO need to make sure the rules are followed when they finally calculate the scores and don't have too many scoring on courses that don't allow it, that people running up legitimately, e.g. a W14 winning Light Green scores 100, but that an adult from NN winning women's orange is not allowed to score and needs to be disregarded etc etc.
