help with score event on routegadget
I would appreciate advice from the RG experts out there. I'm using files from Autodownload and Purple Pen. I followed the RG video tutorial for a score event, uploaded the appropriate files (csv results), chose the 'create individual courses from SI codes...' option and got to the screen that comes after fitting the control circles. This gives a list of competitors - problem is, there were twenty runners but only 18 in the list. As there were 18 controls I'm guessing maybe you can't have more individual courses than there are controls? Perhaps I've missed something. Help? Please?

I haven't solved the conundrum yet, but I think the 18 controls and 18 runners in the list is maybe just a coincidence. I've tested it again with less competitors and it's still missing out the same 2 people. Back to the drawing board.

Re: help with score event on routegadget
After going through all the files and uploading it myself I'm not sure where the problem is.
There are 2 people missing from the list that you see to check RG has matched everyone up correctly. But if you accept that and save, then view the public page, the 2 that were missing are listed and everything works fine. You can add their routes, save and then view them.
But 2 of the txt files created by RG during the upload are missing the 2 people, hajontakanta.txt and radat.txt.
I've analysed the AutoDownload event file looking for anything out of the normal for those 2 people but nothing different.
So, has anyone else had a similar problem and did you find out why?

Re: help with score event on routegadget
I've had the missing runner problem when doing score event routegadget before, and it took a long time to work out what was happening. It appeared to be a routegadget issue rather than a results software issue (we were using different software to that being used by usuallylast).
Am not at home at the moment, so what's written below is from memory. Will review my notes when I'm home and update as necessary.
In my case, when more than one runner had done the same controls in the same order, only the first runner was recognised when doing the create individual courses option. This generates the 'missing' runners.
I think my solution was to manually edit the results file to add in additional dummy controls to ensure that the system thought each person had run a different course. Bit of a pain to do, but it worked.

Re: help with score event on routegadget
Checked back at my previous notes, and the solution was:
For a score event, Route gadget doesn't like when more than one person has done the same controls in the same order, so you have to make sure every competitor has done a different set of controls.
I do this by first sorting the CSV results file to identify those people who have done identical courses. I then make them different by adding in a duplicate split time for one of the controls (different for each runner) and changing the time by 1 sec (i.e. reduce first split by 1 sec, and then add in a second visit to the control with a 1 sec split e.g. in the csv file the 'Control x, Punch x' values for say control number 162 '162 3397' would become '162 3396 162 3397'). Then save the CSV file.
If you edit the csv file using Excel, I've also found that you may have to do the following:
Open file with Notepad. Add a comma onto the end of any line that doesn't have one. For some reason Excel randomly misses off the comma at the end of some of the lines. This results in the following person's results not being recognised by routegadget. Then save the CSV file and upload as usual.
I've now managed to get two sets of score event results up using the above technique. Not ideal but seems to work OK.
