So, whilst there may be other commercial providers out there, SPORTident have the largest team of people experienced in regularly handling very large events. In the event of sickness or accident they can probably provide alternative people at short notice. It's that level of support and peace of mind that tempts organisers to pay the price rather than rely on volunteers or a low cost alternative. Which is why I asked the question.

Precisely the reasons why I chose them for the 2011 British Sprint and Middle Champs that I co-ordinated. I don't think they did the 2012 champs though.

Interestingly, in SCOA, at many of the events using EMIT, the EMIT UK team seem to provide much of the computing support with the assistance from whichever club is hosting the event. This is largely true for the smaller clubs in SCOA and also for the excellent midweek Military League events.

Clubs using SI usually seem to do their own computing.

However the minutes for the June meeting of SCOA, posted on their website, state that

The major contractors for entries and results have been identified.
Michael Napier has been selected to provide the results system and SI Entries has
been selected to provide the online entries & start lists system.

So there we are.

Personally, although I prefer SI, I have no problems with EMIT and cannot see what all the fuss is about. The decision has been made -get over it!

See that details are now out with 1st closing date being 3rd January with each month having a big increase in cost. Surprised to see that entry fees are higher than last year (if memory serves me correctly) plus £1 a day for ******* emit hire.

Plus £5 for parking which is on the last page before paying. No where does it say there was to be a parking fee.

Edit: The JK website has now been updated to include this fee.

This is an outrage.... Eeryone knows about airlines websites and their fees not been displayed at the start, so only mentioning this charge at the end is totally wrong.
Action should be taken if this is not changed or an apology made.

Trying to input my payment details using an Android tablet is next to impossible (input does not move onto the next box properly, and if have a space (eg in your name) it drops half of the info). Fabian4 entry a few minutes earlier was trouble free.

Yes, have obviously had to accept the fact. However, see no reason why one should not express one's disappointment at having to use second rate equipment for our premier races (and which on more than one occasion has not been fit for purpose).

The JK is now just three weeks away, and a number of key people within SCOA are working frantically to ensure the event is a great success.

Individual entries for the weekend now exceed 2,900, with entries for the Sprint exceeding 2,000 for the first time ever.

There are some problems and concerns, notably over the state of some of the car park fields.

Up here in Scotland, I saw an unofficial start list with
Sprint 12-4
Day 2 10-2
Day 3 10-2

But even I'm not sure what the weather will be like in 10 days time
