I have responded to Mike's call for event reporters to improve website content - but probably not in the way he expected. I think his aims could be achieved more easily by enhancing the use of and openness of the events database.

Name seems to be printed on the 'Cut out and keep' bit on the pdf's we have received, if that is what you are referring to?

Only problem is we have received only 2 out of 3 membership confirmation pdf's!

Yes ~ my cut and keep bit shows my name and all the other bits the old card used to show.

Perhaps the folk who are still awaiting their cards throught the post are the same ones who have yet to record an email address on their BOF Membership record. If it isn't recorded BOF cannot use it.

I have received via email my card, a card for my daughter, two cards for my son, but no card for my wife. I also received cards for two other unrelated juniors, who are not registered at my address, but somehow BOF has added my email address to their account.

I am considering reporting this latter incident to the Information Commissioner as BOF clearly is showing insufficient care over the handling of personal data.

I only mentioned the membership card as I was worried that something important might have dropped out of the opened envelope en-route, and I would normally expect to receive a membership card from BOF at this time of year.

I actually find it quite useful to have it to hand when I have to complete a registration slip which demands you quote BOF and SI number. I guess its because I am no longer a regular orienteer and I do not retain reference numbers.

But the membership card is nice and small and fits into my wallet along with my money. I invariably find myself sitting in the car (in the rain) completing thy slip I forgot to download and complete before I travelled to the event.

So few clubs seem to allow you to use your SI Card to register ~ I know that's possible though I guess having registration in a different tent to the download is most likely to explain the reason why.
