How high are the risks based on the historical percentage of casualties in events not requiring medical certificates, and will certificates reduce that percentage?

Don't get complacent: I've been attacked by crocodiles every time I've raced with a valid medical certificate. That's a 100% historical risk.

I wonder if you need a medical certificate to play golf in France and Italy? Reckon if you did a few courses would go bust. There would be noone left in the Seniors section at our club in GB and in any case most should require a TUE!!

I haven't been asked at an Italian golf club but at the swimming pool/gym I need one to be a member and probably should have a TUE for the amount of steroid that has been injected into my knee!

You do if you enter the World Masters' Games Golf! From the WMG Torino website:-

For Golf, Bowls, Archery, Badminton, Table tennis and Shooting it is only required to have a Medical-sports check-up, a regular urine test and Electrocardiogram at rest.

So at least they recognise that the exercise ECG might be a tad too far for Golf ... They've dropped the Spirometry (breathing test) requirement too for these sports.

Personally I'm grateful for this farce as I'm not going to have to worry myself about it.

Yet another reason to disicciate from WMG. There were no medical requirements in 2004 when Italy held WMOC without the expensive beaurocracy.
