Re: Moray 2013
Hope I find time to get a run myself! Pulling together various other things here - the promo video for Moray 20013 is now out there on the event website, SOA website and YouTube. The video was put together by local company Wildbird, using "actors" Johnstone and Harry from Forest Jump. At the event itself for live filming we are close to securing the use of the team under Karel Jonak who have provided coverage at various WOCs. It is hoped that we will also have some UK involvement thanks to help using Nopesport in pushing someone forward! Per Forsberg will be providing commentary and a big screen will be trundling its way northwards for use over 4 of the days including Euromeeting. This will be a great event basking under summer skies, with dolphins leaping out of the water as ospreys and sea eagles swoop overhead.

Re: Moray 2013
You mean you haven't lined up the contract for a day trip by Golden Eagles yet?
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

Is it too late to align the text on the logo?
OK, something went terribly wrong at conception but don't understand why we can't tweak it now and in all the subsequent promotions.

Any idea of when prices of camping (and details/prices for busing, if there is going to be any) will be available? Would be good to have it before the first closing date - which is admittedly still a long way off at the moment.

Both should be on the online entry system.

Re: Moray 2013
So they are - sorry! - I had tried having a look in the entry system but gave up before getting to that page
Would probably still be good to have them on the website - at the moment I don't think it says anywhere that there will be buses.

Re: Moray 2013
Apologies again: I was referring the optional, pay-extra buses for those staying at the campsite without a car. I don't think there are any compulsory buses.

Re: Moray 2013
A greatl video showing our sport as an energetic activity in some glorious runnable forests. It should enthuse any active orienteers.
Sadly 2 frames towards the end stuck in the memory ~ I had to replay to check to confirm what I noticed first time through. You showed our runners crossing a golf grreen (in Scotland of all places !) There could be rumblings in the R & A.
Over the years I have run over, and planned courses on Golf courses. These have been more usually night events as during the day the courses are used by golfers for their intended purpose.
When negotiating access with the clubs we stress we will plan courses to avoid crossing greens ~ the greens themselves are shown on the map as being OOB. Clubs spend a lot of money in preparing greens to ensure a true playing surface ~ to cross them at speed in inappropriate footware causes damage.
So why are we promoting our sport as one that does not respect another sports hallowed turf. If we are seeking funding or sponsorship from a non-orienteering body we risk offending the sensitivities of those who might otherwise be inclined to help.
It seems to me 2 seconds of folly to show a couple of frames that depicts our participants as being thoughtless. They don't actually add anything to an otherwise excellent video. I would delete these frames before the video becomes more widely viewed.

Re: Moray 2013
The intention of the shot was to promote other activities in the area including golf! As it happens the video has been viewed by Freefall Snr, who at 89 happens to be one of the oldest members of the R&A and a close acquaintance of Pierre, the current Captain. Freefall Snr had no objection to this short clip on the golf course but wondered why there was the tumbling and not just running.
Note the footwear has been specially chosen to avoid damaging the greens.
Thank you for the positive comments on the "energetic" aspects of the sport.

Re: Moray 2013
A danger with a 2 second clip is that it leaves an impression ~ you don't have the time to zoom in to inspect the footware. So for a golfer ( especially a committee member) this could be a negative impression.
So it is really a question of who the promotionional video is trying to impress. If it is just orienteers (and their families) most will think it all looks great fun .
If though you are targeting non-orienteers with this video you may convey the wrong message. It's a risk that, that after consideration, you have taken. So best of luck ~ I am sure the 6-days will be well worth attending.

I am still waiting for some eagle-eyed orienteer to spot the (non) deliberate error(s). Clue: SI

You mean punching control 110 on a clear station T bar (at 47 seconds). Also running sometimes without maps!
