Following yet more apparant confusion on another thread this is to try to clarify these myserious Scottish clubs for those that constantly mix us up or believe that we are one and the same.
MAROC stands for Mar O C, Mar being an ancient kingdom? in upper Deeside - (No not by the Mersey) - the river that rises in the Cairngorms and eventually reaches the sea in Aberdeen.
MOR atands for Moravian Orienteers, Moray being a county , region or whatever you call it abutting the Moray Firth east of Inverness.
Both clubs have some of the best UK terrain but they are not the same - in fact a typical MAOC event is about a 2 hour drive for me.
MAROC have been an outstanding club introducing juniors and bringing them through to adulthood for many years now.
MOR are hopefully following in MAROC's footsteps but are some years behind.
Whichever club is putting on an event it's likely to be worth a visit if you are within reach.
MOR and MAROC
