Has anyone taken part in the football tournament at a previous 6 days? If so, could you let me have some info on how it went?
This year, the Forres Soccer Sevens Club http://www.forres-soccer7s.co.uk/about-the-club.phpis organising the tournament for us, so it should be good. The club provides springtime/summer football for kids from age 5 to 16, and has a lot of experience in running friendly tournaments, including adult ones. The 6 days tournament should be open to all ages.
They envisage some sort of "Champions League" where local teams and visiting orienteering clubs can have an enjoyable and friendly tournament in the beautiful surroundings of Grant Park in Forres. We're especially keen to see a few foreign teams.
The sort of things I could do with knowing is:
What age groups of orienteers have taken part in the past?
How many orienteering teams have there been in the past?
What format did the competition take?
How good/bad were the teams?
But feel free to tell us anything that might help.
We're still a few responses short of the 100 we need to complete the "Sporting Friendship" survey so if you haven't done it yet, please fill it in. It takes about 2 minutes. You can find it in the "things to do" or "news" sections of the Moray 2013 web site. Even if you're not interested in doing anything sporty, there's a question asking about what other types of leisure activities you might be interested in. The info will be useful to advise local groups who might be able to satisfy demand. There are already some extremely strong themes emerging which have helped generate interest amongst local activity providers.
Many thanks.

Many moons ago, 1999 I think my sons played in the tournament and Supersaint broke his arm saving a shot - from one of his own team
The boys always enjoyed playing - there were some very competitive teams
