Whilst I have nothing to do with putting on this event, as the fixture list appears to suggest another event at Quarrel Wood I thought I'd point out that all the technical courses are in fact in an area south of the A96, only partially used before, and that only for a few very minor events.
So effectively a brand new area with some excellent morraine tarrain and some glorious beechwood (utterly fantastic autumn colours right now).
Additionally for some to whet the appetite to travel there is to be a black course (and I'd like some competition).

Have always driven through there and wondered whether it was big enough & with enough interest to be used, look forward to seeing the map.

Thank you Eddie, I really should have thought to raise this thread myself as organiser. Almost SOL choice of courses. Assembly (Eight Acres Hotel) is less than a mile from both the rail and bus station. There is a list of facilities and prices that might appeal to competitors who want a relax as well at http://www.moravianorienteering.org/events/quarrelwood-and-aldroughty-full-colour-coded-event-sun-25-nov-12. Also should be able to hear the roars of the crowd from Elgin vs Rangers nearby. Before there is endless debates on here about embargos, the coaching the club is doing in Quarrelwood the previous week is avoiding the area that the TD1-4 courses are using.
PLEASE pre-enter via https://oentries.com/event/details/283-level-c-quarrelwood-and-aldroughty-inter-services-and-ne-region-junior-club-championships.
Eddie, there are more than 20 entered on Black that will probably not appear on oentries as I am taking their entries manually (plenty on Sht Brown as well).

The event is also the annual North Area Inter-Club Junior Competition. A brand new trophy is being made, with medals for the 10 members of the winning team. The SIMPLE competition format, designed to enable white course novices to be just as important to their club as the most experienced club juniors, is in Roo's link.
I hope a few more are planning on coming, as entries so far are disappointing in the extreme. Or are you all going to the Elgin v Rangers game to see some sht football?

For those wondering if it is worth travelling up from further afield, just a reminder that there are training kites in Achlean, by Inshriach that you could use on the Saturday; further info via the ROMP programme on the SOA website http://www.scottish-orienteering.org/natcen/page/regular-orienteering-map-programme . Stay locally, even the assembly hotel are offering reasonable rates. Both Aldroughty and Quarrelwood are great areas.

I've wanted to race in Aldroughty for as long as I can remember, years of bus journeys to and from Uni, passing by heading to orienteering events, it just looks amazing. I hope it lives up to my expectations. And a Black course too! Just you try and stop me going there!
A City win over Rangers and it could be the perfect day!
Is the whole Black course contained on the South side of the A96? Could make for some interesting planning if it is! See you there!

Well before the Elgin v Rangers match was rescheduled, the police were not too happy with a competetive road crossing of A96 (even timed-out) and with the footy traffic now I am glad we acknowledged their advice!
All TD5 courses are exclusively on S side of A96 with the longer courses crossing the minor road to Miltonduff and up to Ardgye.

Entries now open until tonight in the hope that 'plain lazy' might back up his enthusiasm , although I recognise he is probably recovering from a rather busy previous weekend.
Weather forecast looks sound.
