Stodgetta, I've done the same thing. I did email to see if they'd got it but haven't heard back. I'm sure it's probably fine - everything seems to be done at the last minute.

Re: IMPORTANT VENICE 2012
A couple of days ago it looked like this:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/picturegalleries/worldnews/3538914/Venice-under-five-feet-of-water-as-the-city-suffers-its-worst-floods-in-22-years.html
But for the next few days it's looking much better:
http://www.comune.venezia.it/flex/cm/pages/ServeBLOB.php/L/IT/IDPagina/2104
Otherwise, looks like it'll be the same as it's always been. Which is amazing. I can't wait.

Don't be too sure - it's predicting very high tide on the 11th

It's predicting a very high tidal coefficient, i.e. difference between high and low tide. The actual high tide height is predicted to be c. 1m at 8.25 am, which affects about 4% of the city to a depth of a couple of cms.

Re: IMPORTANT VENICE 2012
Latest forecast is 120cm high tide at 8.20am. That'll have St Marks square about a foot deep in water
, and about a third of the city flooded in some way.
By 10am it should be mostly gone (tide below 100cm), though a few classes have early starters off from 9am.
A pity that the weather forecast also has water coming from above, as well as the sea coming up from below.

Forecast for Ogden is GOOD.
Suggest the EPOC contingent and other Yorkshire folk come home.

Everything they tell you is already on the website:
Event info: http://www.orivenezia.it/mov/movbase.as ... &page=info
Schedule and course lengths: http://www.orivenezia.it/mov/movbase.as ... &page=prog
The event centre is always the same place, and is the sports centre with the zig-zag wall just north of control 28 on this course. Entrance is by the zig-zags. That's where you go for registration, bag collection, changing, toilets, download, results. You can leave kit, but I wouldn't leave valuables.

Re: IMPORTANT VENICE 2012
If it really is 120cm, they'll have to either cancel it or postpone starts
There was one race in really deep water in c. 1997 and another one in c.2002 in medium water - neither went down at all well with the locals, who strangely didn't appreciate being splashed by runners as they were trying to sweep water out of their shops / not get too wet going to church
So at that point they decided they wouldn't have the race if the water was too deep, and 120cm if it's right is definitely too deep. Then would become a question of can the starts wait for long enough for the water to go, before everyone begins worrying about their travels home. Not sure about that one.
They're very experienced organisers so I'm sure they'll make the right decision (and you may think I'm a hypocrit given my comments in the Nov Classic thread, but that one was about danger to runners, this one's about community relations)
