And good luck in the build up to WOC2015..... will 2015 be a repeat of WOC99 on home soil & produce a Gold Medal for GBR? Or will WOC2015 live up to WOC2012 which (according to FOCUS) was probably GBR's best day ever at WOC Sprint

Interesting to note that ALL SIX of the performance athletes have their best WOC individual result at sprint.

Also interesting to note that the only new name in the Performance Squad this year turned down membership of the Development Squad last year.

Interesting performance selections especially for women? Have a look at current World Rankings - well one out of three is right.

As previously mentioned BOF seem to have given up on forest orienteering and are only interested in sprint!

Still with no money available I do not suppose those athletes not selected really care much.

A few quick points:

Elite performance squad is decided using the selection policy. I thought most people posting here would know that. Top 15 in EOC this year, and top 15 in WOC this year or last year and you are in. All 6 athletes have achieved this.

Speaking for the Edinburgh athletes, we do well at sprint orienteering for the simple reason that we live in world class sprint terrain. The nearest world class forest terrain is over an hour's drive away. All three of us have full time jobs and other commitments that make forest orienteering a weekend activity. If we lived by world class forest terrain, we would be better at forest orienteering. Having run all three disciplines in international competitions all year I would say they are equally tough to get a top 15 in.

I don't think anyone knows the future funding position of anything in British Orienteering, but team atmosphere and helping each other achieve their best costs nothing. Bring on 2013!
