OCAD 11
Are any of your clubs buying the upgrade to OCAD 11? We didn't bother with v10 as v9 is pretty good - so is the £ 310 we would have to pay going to help with producing O maps and courses ? Advice and comments appreciated.

Re: OCAD 11
I've been looking at this as well, as I may be moving club and the Ocad 10 licence I have is owned by the club, so I may need to buy one out of my own pocket.
I'm wondering if the Starter edition at around £120 +VAT will do.
The reference to basic drawing tool looks like it means it hasn't got the new tools introduced in 11.
The limit of 10,000 doesn't seem to restrictive given that the 1:15,000 map of Creag Mhic only has 7,623 objects.
I will email OCAD and ask for some more details.

Starter is limited up to 10'000 objects and to a maximum of 5 background maps (raster files). It’s functionally is limited to basic drawing and editing functions. The course setting module for orienteering sports is an integral part of it.

Re: OCAD 11
Before I sent my email I though I'd better check if the info I needed was on the website, and most of it is.
There is a comparison table of OCAD 11 features here , it's a PDF.
So it looks like the Starter edition is good enough for updating existing maps and producing training/coaching maps with bits removed or blocked out or modifying the layout for a particular event (moving the titles, key, and a place for control descriptions). Or producing new simpler maps from scratch.

A good reason not to change club, Paul?
