Re: 2013 SQUAD
Well it's great to see so much interest in who has been selected for the 2013 squads!
The athletes have been informed already. The rest of us just have to wait until it's appropriate for the lists to be made public.
@Gross: What's 5pm got to do with it?!
@Dids: No. It's some athletes taking longer to respond to their selection that is causing the delay. But thanks for your question.

Not a lot apart from being a good ref point for a wind up

I assume that the Squad will be announced on the website sometime in the next 5 hours and 50 mins as indicated on the Friday statement??

Re: 2013 SQUAD
The "BOF office isn't open at the weekend" excuse has often been used when news reports about significant events the have occurred on the weekend haven't been posted.

Re: 2013 SQUAD
Why do athletes need to respond to their selection? Are you suggesting that some people might not want to be part of the 2013 squad?

Re: 2013 SQUAD
Obligation to show up for certain weekends in return for no funding. What's not to like?

(Also being the end of business day when you could nominally expect a professional organisation to complete it's daily tasks)
I'd like to think that we have people at BOF who might not be clock watchers and are both professional and commited to their work, enough to put in extra time when needed, and suspect that is the case, and thank them for it.

I'd want them to be making a decision to be fully committed to the squad or not. It involves young people committed to enjoying their sport but also making decisions about balancing other interests, looking to careers and other opportunities. At the Talent Development level I'd suggest that you can be good enough for selection without having thought that through before the invite drops into your inbox.

Re: 2013 SQUAD
You can't run a squad if you don't know who's in it. Responding to a selection is courteous, if nothing else.
And who said there was no funding?!? The Sport England submission for 2013-2017 funding is under discussion, and replacement for at least some of the lost UK Sport funding of Performance from April 2013 is being sought.

Re: 2013 SQUAD
'Courteous' - shouldn't that work both ways, like for example BOF being courteous enough to allow our best juniors to represent Great Britain at international races and wear British National Kit?

Not me. Maybe someone taking a while to think through the likely meanings of
... under discussion, ... being sought.
But whatever the outcome, sometimes our hopes come true

Re: 2013 SQUAD
OK.... I'll admit I'm doing BOF a dis-service. Wednesday October 10th 2012 still has approx 3 hours & 10 minutes to run....
