Mike Hamilton has graciously waived the £37.40 in levy due for the Moravian event at Darnaway Castle last sunday. That means every penny of the £638 takings (after map printing costs) taken is going to The Highland Hospice.
A great advert for orienteers and orienteering. Thank you to any Nopers who came and supported this great cause so generously. There are some of Oban 2011 photographer Chris Spencer's customary high-quality snaps on the Moravian Orienteers Web Site https://picasaweb.google.com/112647569159342811277/DarnawayCastleSatSunLeague#

Many thanks for this Sunlit. I just hope that the same decision is taken by Mike in respect of the recent City of Canterbury Urban race, which was held in support of the local Pilgrims Hospices; and to whom all event 'profits' are to be paid.

Hi Dave,
I guess it will depend on the extent to which the charitable involvement increased the attendance - (and hopefully attendance at future events ..... and the resultant levy income). It certainly did a lot for our attendance.

Nice of Mike, but does he have the right to make that decision?
In good old fashioned democratic organisations the committee would make that decision not the paid employee.

Re: Hooray for BOF
Only BOF would want to convene a committee to waive £37.40
whether we're so well off that we should spend our money on subsidising the NHS is another story.

Re: Hooray for BOF
But apparently they didn't convene a committee!
Perhaps sensibly a committee has already delegated such decisions to Mike, as they are allowed to do.

Re: Hooray for BOF
Can we please stop bitching. I offered to pay the levy and invited Mike to waive it. He did, and I appreciated it. End of.
