1137 orienteers on the streets of London in less than two weeks will beg to differ.

Re: Urban O
But surely the point is that S Niggli CAN hack it. She won the WOC sprint & Nort 1 & 4.
It is interesting that the stand out orienteer of this generation prefers forest O.

Let's hope 1125 come back safely. One of these days, someone is going to end up in an ambulance

People have ended up in ambulances in terrain orienteering.

Mildly, but it's bit like Bradley Wiggins discussing the difference between track and road - some prefer one, some prefer the other. Doesn't make much difference to anybody else.

I'm sure a fair number of those will still prefer terrain to urban though!

So, is that going to drive people off the streets?
(And how's it stopping Ali running twice at weekends in "sunlit forests" anyway?).

Have you run London? It's busier in our village than it is in Central London at the weekend!

Re: Urban O
Think you'll find Niggli's remark was made in the context where she was in a mass start urban event on wet street with some very slippery bits and she admitted she'd chosen the wrong shoes.

No, the point is simply being made that if someone has an accident involving a moving vehicle, and I hope they never do, it may cause embarrassment and problems with the authorities, because of random running in the streets by a lot of people. BTW I love urban orienteering (I've probably done as many of them as you, awk.) Looking forward to London

Ali's got his Mr Provocative hat on, personally I think it really suits him and I'm enjoying it

Because some of our Forest + Forest weekend events have moved to Urban + Forest

Re: Urban O
If you're focusing on just the terrain you are running in why not go for a run instead of an urban event? (or vice versa, obviously)
If you're there to orienteer, focus on what is in front of you, urban or terrain. Don't see the point in complaining as it's fairly obvious that both styles of orienteering are popular.
