SYO Sprint Relay - 1st Sept
Does anyone have any more details about this? The website: http://www.southyorkshireorienteers.org.uk/index.php/events/details/375-sprint-relay doesn't say a great deal. My club is thinking of entering. Main thing they need to know at this stage is the nature of the competition, e.g. how many people in a team, what classes are offered, leg lengths, approx timings, that sort of stuff.

Re: SYO Sprint Relay - 1st Sept
Yes, I'm the organiser. More details will be published very soon (probably this weekend once the planner is back from hols), and entries will be opened.
Men Open - 3 people in a team, one sprint lap each (though sprint EWT might be more like 20 minutes than 12-15)
Women Open - 3 women in a team, otherwise as above.
Handicap - 3 seniors, shorter courses to suit veterans not wanting to run Open.
Junior - 3 juniors, shorter courses to suit juniors not wanting to run Open.
There should be something for under 16s.
I intend to also offer a Score course (30 minute?) competition to all relay entrants, that will take place just after the relays. That means you can have two runs (if you want), rather than just one. That will be free.
Relay starts between 2pm and 2.30pm. Assembly about here.
Prizes by Buff.

Re: SYO Sprint Relay - 1st Sept
excellent event on an excellent area, the addition of Birkdale School keeps really gets rid of the dead running on the area. Knowledge of the area definitely made thought processes much quicker!

Re: SYO Sprint Relay - 1st Sept
Just thought Id say that it was defiantly one of my favourite events this year. Good organisation, courses, area choice and a fun 50 control score afterwards. Previously I was skeptical about the format but after today Id like to see more Sprint relays in the future. Well done Martin and the team!
Good orienteering is not a skill. It is an attitude.

Thanks for the positive feedback!
In the Mens Open it was actually FVO that took 3rd place (the second SYO team got DSQ on leg 2).
There's a great set of photos from by Lawrie Phipps here.

Fantastic event, most fun I've had orienteering for a long time, albeit for only 20 mins. 1st leg was mayhem thanks to an excellently planned course by Tim. Shame there weren't more teams entered, but fun was had by all who ran. Thank you SYO.

Any contact details for Lawrie? Would like to get copies of the kids but the photo's are protected.

Re: SYO Sprint Relay - 1st Sept
Great event all round - excellent area, map, courses and a bit of atmosphere.
Perhaps next year start the womens and handicap at the same time to get a bit more of pack - I ran 90% of the first leg on my own.
