Day 3 rankings/results are on the BOF website - but colour course runners have been left out. This is strange as when I do a colour course at a Level B event I normally get ranking points.

I take it you're talking about Orange as light green runners have ranking points on Course 20?
I suspect its probably the 10 runners or less rule thats affected the orange course. If you remove from course 20 all the under 16s and foreign or IND runners there's only about 20 left to score, of which 10 or more need to be BOF members with a current ranking. A quick look at some of the finishers suggest they are family members (eg of BAOC) and dont have a current ranking, so maybe this is their first event of the year, or they arent BOF members?

There appear to be any number of level 3 events on areas that provide nothing more than TD3 anyway.

Well I know- I thought you only got ranking points on TD 5 races, but I cant see anything here that says that

True Andy but many events are run on terrain, which only supports TD4 courses anyway so the TD of light green is in reality no different to green+.

Moreover, given orange is often underplanned to TD2 it seems dangerous to include orange ranking points as someone who is technically poor but with incredible running speed (like me ) could get very very high points on a TD2 course.

Andypat is right that Appendix K does not rule out any course or TD so white must be included too? Game on!

I'm sure a couple of my kids 10B course controls were TD5. Should they get some ranking points?

Juniors (even those running TD5) are specifically excluded from the ranking scheme -something about the risk of them harming themselves as a result of trying too hard.

My concern is that those participants do not appear anywhere in the results posted on the BOF site (they are quite correctly on the Croeso site).
On TD4 / 5 courses you do not see juniors / foreigners edited out of the results just because they are ineligible for ranking points, so why has this happened on courses 22, 23 & 24 ?

On some of the areas I think it would be very difficult to get true TD3 courses - they would have to be either too hard or too easy, and given those options I think the right choice was made.

Yes it is. Look at Scottish 6 Day last year. We got ranking points last year. Obviously there has to be 10 ranked people on the course which is why it might not happen in Wales.
(But like some others - I've always thought it should only be on Green and above.)

I think you are spot on KP, which is why, imho, orange is the most difficult course to get right when you are planning. Most often underplanned but very very occassionally overplanned and sometime even correctly planned.

We had an "intersting" situation a few years back where one of our older juniors planned a schools league event, he dilligently read the guidelines and produced an orange course with lots of TD3 controls and was subsequently berated by a school teacher (club member too) because her pupils coud not cope with the TD and had run really well on the previous 3 orange courses in the league. Essentially the issue was that the first 3 orange courses had effectively been planned as long yellow and the kids were ok at TD2 but not up to TD3.

They always were there within the Course 22 results. Think KP is mistaken on this one or maybe is looking for colour coded courses separately?

I notice results are now on the BOF website for Days 4-6. Oddly there are no ranking points for Day 6 on any courses.

Day 5 Course 5 (at least) need recalculating.
The course "winner" retired and only visited about 3 controls. Those listed as 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th also did not successfully complete the course. Removing their times is likely to change the points of those that did complete the course more than a little.

I wonder if something similar explains why my BOF points from day 3 are significantly less than I would have expected from my Croeso points / position that day ?
