Looks like they are the Assembly field, but what I really want is Grid Ref (or even better postcodes) for the entrance to the car park for my SatNav.

You'll be lucky - in rural Wales I'm sure a post code can deposit you many hundreds of metres from where you need to be - probably up the wrong road!

I'm with Big Jon on this one! Ditch the SatNav! Practice orienteering TOO the event, that's what I'm planning on doing.

If you're really worried, bing maps have a full set of OS maps online you can scroll across the whole area and print out what you need! They do 1-50K and even 1-25K.

Maybe see you in a field in deepest darkest Wales!

Yeah Yeah - I was waiting for the SatNav comments! I tend to use SatNav to get me to the general area, then assume there will be O' signs from around that point (or a long trail of cars).

We're staying quite a way outside of Aberystwyth - and navigating whilst driving with fighting kids in the back is never easy! I try to memorise key route details just in case the SatNav tries to take me the 'cross-country' route.

Wondering whether anyone could do me a favour, I'm getting the train up but have no way of getting to the training on Saturday (getting the bus the rest of the week). Would anyone be able to give me a lift in the afternoon? I'll arrive about 1.30/2 ish

I'm coming up by myself, only a few other members from my clubs are going (NOC and SOC), but would really like to meet some other student orienteers or MW20/21s. I sent a message to the BUOT Facebook page but noone was going who replied. I only took up orienteering this year but am really enjoying it so far.

Sorry to see that Day 3 parking has been lost - but not entirely surprised - it must be a nightmare with the weather.

Not clear from the e-mail I received how far away the alternative parking is, how long it will take to get to assembly from there and whether we walk or are mini-bussed like the original campervan arrangements state. Also no mention of this on the Croeso website updates.

I guess all will be revealed in the fullness of time

I believe we all park along a forest track - so assume we just get further and further away from the assembly area. How long is a row of 600 cars nose to tail?

I'm not quite sure why requests for Croeso information are being made to nopesport, where you may or may not get a correct answer ... there's a perfectly good email address which reaches an extremely hard working enquiries secretary, who will do her best to give an authoritative reply.

That as maybe, but I have now sent 2 emails in the last couple of weeks regarding reserving tickets for some of the social programme and have had no reply! Does that mean that the organiser is just too busy to reply, or that my messages haven't got through? I now have no guarantee that I can go to the social activities. Is is worth me trying again?
I have now sent an email about reserving orange parking tickets for Day 3 - but will I get a reply for that?

Early details for day 3 - this will be in registration pack (as final - final details) - though there will be daily updates available so this may change further but to give you some info, don't shoot me if the info changes:

"Signs at Devil’s Bridge will send Orange Badge holders along the
B4343 for 5km to the Hafod entrance. Parking will be on forest road
up to 1.5km from the Assembly Area.
Campervans of all sizes, and cars without Orange Badges, will
park on forest track at The Arch, which will be signed from Devil’s
Bridge along the B4574. Buses will shuttle competitors to the Hafod
entrance, and there will be a 1.4km walk downhill to the Assembly
Area. Buses will run frequently, starting at 07:45. If you want to use
a mountain bike, the distance is about 5km, downhill to Assembly."

As you will appreciate CROESO has a small team of dedicated volunteers working flat out to give you a great week (we had our first meeting in Jan 09), please bear with us, we have 6 days planned and they will be great, weather is improving. The emails to CROESO are getting through but the volume of requests/queries are huge in number.

Please turn up on Sat and enjoy the training day hosted by the Welsh juniors and the Event Centre facilities.

Agree, so far four superb areas, incredible weather, perfect organisation and highly scenic assembly fields. More: Aberystwyth is once again full of people happily wandering around, looking at photos, gazing at the sky, turning in circles, walking into lampposts, excitedly writing something on a bit of paper, and then scurrying off again. We can see them from our bedroom window. (Clue: these are not the boarding houses you're looking for).
