Sweet.
11th at WOC, 1st at Snowdon, they're inseparable.
Check it out on S4C, 9pm tonight...

What does "Tessa Hill y cariad Murray Strain" mean anyway?

"Tessa Hill y cariad Murray Strain"
cariad is love isn't it or something similar.
maybe:
"Tessa Hill the girlfriend of Murray Strain"
or something like that
I haven't watched the video yet, but I wonder if they could resist doing a Carsten Joergensen (from when he won the European Cross Country Champs):
I only do this for my orienteering fitness.
Anyway, well done to both!
If (as rumours have it) WOC planners tune their events to suit there local favourites, then I anticipate a Scottish WOC Sprint with a demon descent on a very rough stony track (and maybe some decent climbing too)!

Yes, that's pretty much what Tess said. They didn't dub the interview into Welsh

The section I liked was when Murray overtook the Irish guy. One minute he wasn't in the frame at all, next he was past and gone!

40:37 while Alun being interviewed Tessa is chatting away in the background.
A few seconds later she is still running down the hill!
Great result guys ad decent coverage too (apart from the odd bit of continuity).

Re: Nice One team HillStrain
Delighted for Murray & tess. But in a bit of an odd twist to the tail, it turns out tess doesn't receive the £500 + stacks of free kit women's prize for winning such a prestigious race, she gets 2 x £25 Pete bland vouchers. What did she do wrong? Well having done too much orienteering and not enough hill racing, tess was not at the race representing a nation, she just entered herself and paid the entry free for doing so. She turned up at the same start line as everyone else, ran the same race at the same time as everyone else and beat them all, but in not running for a particular nation, but the glorious HBT, she didn't win the 'international' race, but the open race, so got a much inferior prize!!! I would be soooo mad!

Yes - its a bit like winning the golf as an amateur. Hopefully the kudos makes up for it a little bit...
Its nice for an orienteer to be putting other athletes in their place!

Re: Nice One team HillStrain
needless to say it'll have piqued interest amongst the selectors for the future, . I know Murray's doing the Uphill-only World Mountain Running Trophy Trial race in Glenridding on Sunday, is Tess?
I vaguely remember hearing about a lady at NY/Boston Marathon a few years ago who was the fastest US woman (or something prize-worthy), but as she wasn't in the elite start block with an elite number she got nowt.
Surely Tess wouldn't have been able to wear the kit anyway as she's already got a load of sponsored Arc'teryx kit to wear
- anyone found Murray's stash of Salomon for on ebay yet?!
