I have just received a BOF mail telling me I've met all sorts of challenges. Whilst always happy to receive a pat on the back I can't see they have any relevance to someone who has been orienteering for 35 years - or really anyone after 2/3 years or say 50 events for that matter. Even I can still get round a shortish Blue in 12.5 m/km with a dodgy knee, two very dodgy calves and the fitness level of a very sedentry peanut (OK it has to be pretty flat and grot free).
Also checked up on the scheme rules and discovered that you can only get badges at an A event. Perhaps G/S/B (wot no Iron ??) should be available at Cat B events also - give them some differentiation from Cat C and also make the badges accessible to a wider number of people, and with less travelling necessary.

Re: Incentive Scheme
Have you noticed that the second item in the news on BOF website (after Jukola) offers the opportunity to opt out of the incentive scheme emails?
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

Re: Incentive Scheme
Gold silver and bronze badges used to be awarded at SOLs but since the system changed to colour coded a couple of years ago there are now hardly any events in Scotland where you can get them so I've given up keeping a tally of which kids have which points, which is a shame as they had more kudos than the colour coded badges.
