I'm looking at both. It's interesting that Mike says at the beginning that club nights are not working. We've been waiting for some indications one way or another for a long time.

I thin most of the target groupd hsver potential but it does seem odd that the retires - while identified as an interesting group - should then be ignored. I would have thought them rich pickings - particularly as volunteer burn out is being mentioned through out the article.

Re OS map bit -

I see BO still haven't formally acknowledged that they have removed insurance cover from non-commercial mappers working on school sites. Perhaps they don't see this as a way to get youngsters in to the sport.

Also they do not seem to realise that it is actually possible to map areas without using any OS source material. There are plenty of good quality aerial photos available on-line from other sources which can be conveted in to excellent base maps - and there is nothing wrong with a compass and survey wheel (or even pace counting in small areas) for getting the micro detail mapped.
