If you ran M21E or W21E at the JK Long or the British, Scottish, Northern or Midland Champs in 2012, you should have received a email asking you to fill out a survey about whether the rules about course lengths (technically the rules about winning times) for these courses should be amended to be in line with the IOF rules. Thanks to the (surprisingly many!) people who have already responded. If you haven't, please do so - it really won't take more than a couple of minutes.
If you think you should have received a survey but haven't (probably because your current email address isn't on the BOF database), PM me or email sjcollier@gmail.com

Re: Elite Course Lengths Survey
anyone else done all 5 of those races? I think Eddie and KeithA.
Quite a spread of finishing times from me, depending on whether it's tough Scottish (Bonk x2), mid-forest Lakeland (lost&bonk), Midlands (lost going round brambles) or open fellside lakeland (zooom!)

So many planners and controllers just have no idea how accurate and fast you guys are.

That was more my point, the want to get them long enough, but often under-estimate us

Re: Elite Course Lengths Survey
I hope all the Elite Men are looking forward to 18K + 600m climb on Winterfold next year
That was the distance for the World Cup which was won by Jani Lakanen in 92. Jon Duncs was fastest Brit in 97.
So maybe 17.5K but either way it should be fun!

Re: Elite Course Lengths Survey
I remember thinking at this years JK that it might be time to bring in an entry limit for the 21 elite classes. We ended up starting well after all the last normal classes, it's a bit boring waiting until 3 or 4 o'clock to run, especially when there isn't anybody at the finish anyway.

Re: Elite Course Lengths Survey
The entry limit for M21E at the JK is 81. There were 83 entries, and I believe the organisers opted to extended the start block by 6 minutes earlier rather than kick anyone off. However, only 67 out of those 83 actually started the race, which seems like a surprisingly high proportion of drop outs.
The real problem is the middle day, where you have to try to M21+M20+M18 all onto the same course with a 2min start interval.

Where, if its like this year, Scotia and GG will be racing on a competitive team, and the rest will be having a lot of fun puntering around on second teams or teams an hour or so off the pace. I might join them: Tio is brilliant, and much more fun than competing under pressure at the sharp end
