Scottish events on 24 June

I've managed to find myself a conference to go to in Edinburgh in the week before WMOC in Germany. Looking at the fixtures for Sunday 24 June, it looks like there's a MAROC event at Sluie, and an ESOC one at Hopetoun House. I know nothing about either area - Sluie is obviously further from Edinburgh, but is it worth the trip?

Come on up to the centre of Scottish Orienteering and see why O is booming in Aberdeenshire.

Sluie is a 'proper' area, it's really nice, but it's a ~3 hour drive.
Hopetoun is considerably less complex although we have added a new bit to the map so it might not be as simple a race as it once was. It's about 20mins drive from Edinburgh.

Here is the link (http://www.esoc.org.uk/home/maps) to the existng Hopetoun House map. The area has been resurveyed and is now about twice the existing area.

If your staying in Edinburgh why not try and get hold of a copy of the EUOC edinburgh map and do one of the Urban races as a training exercise (just to annoy big Jon... )

Sluie is only about 2 hours drive - nothing to a toughened Aussie who is used to 10 hour drives to races
