Battan SOL

What a great SOL yesterday. Being able to run on areas like Battan is such a privilige. Lovely mixture of legs in the very varied terrain it offers. I enjoy goingto the big races, but nowhere it is easy to see why people up here might not bother to go elsewhere.

Fantastic wind too but no trees down (I think) and the only really unpleasant bit was going up the field from the finish to download. 'Twould have been interesting to have had such weather last weekend at the British and the open hills of Dalegarth

Mind you the string course yesterday was out in the teeth of the gale - I wonder if any kids managed round it.

I enjoyed my run too (Blue course).
The map looked like how I saw the ground and the forest floor was generally clean and runnable. Neither of which has been a common experience lately.

I notice that finally this event has appeared on Routegadget, far too late I fear for most people to bother, but please consider putting your routes up.

For those unlucky enough to live in more southerly parts you can now see some splendid planning on a fantastic area. The way events are now published means that I don't even know who was reponsible for these great courses

Some clubs retain the final details on their website after the event which can sometimes be useful, if only so that you know who to thank. I have just rechecked the Twin Peak details to see what it said about wall crossings but I am pleased to find I wasn't breaking any rules.

Certainly looks like a great Black course, gutted I wasn't there. Might have to try and blag a trip home and run the course someday!
