Re: BOC
Please can we have the relay RouteGadget set up using "create individual courses using SI csv control codes"? It makes the head-to-head replies rather more interesting, although I believe it may require separate events for each (set of classes sharing the same) course.

Re: BOC
Interesting to note M21 (all classes numbered 61 competitors and W21 41 - compare this to BOC in mid 80's when M21 would have a couple of hundred competitors.... Doesn't look good for the future of British orienteering.
A second comment - why no course 28 on Route Gadget?

Definitely a problem, but the figures were exacerbated by the clash with university exams, Tio Mila et al. Don't know quite how much impact, maybe not huge, but I do know of a number of M/W21s who weren't there for one of these reasons, and with such low figures, they count quite a bit nowadays!

Re: BOC
Really good organisation, final details sounded complicated but it all worked extremely well. Congratulations to all officials. Map was good and easy to read positive contour detail, but area not as complex as others in Lakes.

Re: BOC
Well organised individual with good courses.
Relays...An entry fee equating to £20 per head for about a half hour's running, a sizeable portion of which was navigating to gates and running in a field. Not good value in my book.
I accept the need to channel courses through the crossings, but to also sacrifice quality orienteering so that spectators could see more people running on a yellow standard part of the area. Bit of a waste.

A bit of the course that caught several experienced runners out if you look at the details of mps on some courses. A test of a different kind to the rest of the area.
I suppose it was too much to ask to get past the 2 Nopesport page mark before adverse comments were made.

It was quite a treat to hear one DQ'd Long Distance Champion witter about not being used to having controls on crossing points.

I only ran for 23mins but thoroughly enjoyed myself! Great head to head racing and the navigation was far from easy. You had to keep your wits about you or you lost time (or even mp'd!), surely that's what relays should be about?

Re: BOC
It does indeed. What attracted them the sport - we need to find out soon because quite honestly the sport is in danger of dying if we cant attract and retain people in this age range.
I was part of the 80's (well 70's) glut -for me it combined my love of maps and the need to keep fit, and I was reasonable at X country running (and cr*p at football).
