"Bubba" Orienteering
There has been a lot of chat in the press after Bubba Watson won the US Masters Golf. His philosophy and style of golf could just as easily be applied to orienteering. There are possibly already several(perhaps many!) orienteers out there who have an untutored/go direct approach to their sport, but are any of them as successful as the aforementioned Bubba? I sometimes think my orienteering speed suffers when I complicate things and over-navigate legs. Perhaps a more direct, "go for the flag", approach might pay dividends.

Orienteering in many ways is very similar to golf - discuss.

Re: "Bubba" Orienteering
Both are a good walk spoiled? Actually I do both - golf probably better than my orienteering. I find they are remarkably similar in terms of the need for concentration and trying to shut off external distractions. Strangely enough the other thing I do is rock climbing, again similarities. Of course as Andy C knows there is the chance to dress up in strange patterned clothing and not feel too much out of place.

Well in both sports I spend an awful lot of time lost in the trees

To be good you need to know the distance and direction to the flag.

The kids (including Bubba and Rickie) also make some great videos
Stick with it - it's worth it just to see those swings
