Re: March in the Marches
Did anyone hear tonight's PM programme on Radio 4? It was discussing Mary Porteous ideas of bringing town centers alive and interviewed a town councillor? from Malvern and some similar person from Ludlow. Bringing action sports to the streets definitely falls within the scope of livening up town centers and increasing footfall. This seems an opportunity to help develop urban/street orienteering by linking in to this initiative. If it is accepted that sport on the streets is a good idea then street closures and other assistance may become the norm from councils etc. Perhaps I am blue sky thinking but the Malvern event came to mind when the Malvern man was being interviewed.

Re: March in the Marches
Thanks ER - I will say the district council have been extremely helpful and supportive once they read my proposal document which they seemed quite impressed with (if anyone wants a copy to adapt for their use then pm me) and once i had them on board doors flew open so to speak.
I was looking forward to the Porteous Report so will read it with interest and try and track down the radio interview.

I hope they weren't mapped as "not to be crossed".

The posters look great! Better than ripping off my poor photos for SINS
(That was a long time ago, and it was rather amusing. I did not mind).
I doubt I will be able to bring my whistle to the event, a pity - all the best with it. Good to see the Herefordshire brambles are to get a bashing, memories of WYE events before the footy on a Saturday in the 1990s. A good day would be a WYE event, back to Hereford for the footy followed by a NGOC or SWOC night event. Happy days.

What are the entry closing dates? Can't find this information for either event, but it might just be my inability to locate them.

Re: March in the Marches
Sorry PG- the closing date is February 29th. There is an earlier date of 12 Feb which affects the price for the Midland champs and the joint entry to both races because of the off set litho printing but the price for the urban race remains at £8/4 until the end of Feb.
I've got a couple of things to add to the flyer so will get it updated as soon as I get all this Christmas stuff/21st birthday celebration/New Years party out of the way

Just thought you'd like to know that the view from the Malvern Hills has just been voted one of the top ten winter views in Britain - I've been up nearly everyday this week and can confirm it's looking pretty good. It'll be even better on March 10th when the buds have begun to swell and there's that faint mistiness on the trees

Re: March in the Marches
Hum Ha what shall I do? I have to send my order to Running Imp on Friday for bib numbers etc, but the closing date is not until next Wednesday. At present I have about 300 entries - The beginners and newcomers EOD course won't have numbers. Do you think I will be safe ordering 400 numbers? (I hope so).
Stop press. The event is now being sponsored by CompassSport and every one will recieve a lovely (very small) and useful prize

We got over 80 entries on the last day for the Sarum Saunter!! Perhaps 400 is being a bit conservative. Not that I'm commenting on your political beliefs

Whoops - looks like the Men's Vets have disappeared from the entry list - don't panic - Mr Fabian says they should be back by morning. 28 hours to closing

Me' Vets are back - phew! Just 6 hours left. Looking at the numbers and available start slots there will be minimal EOD particularly on courses 2 (WO MV) and 3 (WV MSV)
