The SOA results are in the thread "CSC Heats at Faskally" and on the SOA web site.

NEOA clubs were in NWOA or YHOA rounds which are reported elsewhere.

Is it just me, or is it pretty much the same clubs competing against each other every year in the heats?
The Southdowns qualifier yesterday was well organised but lacking a bit in atmosphere with only 250 people attending and the yearly "SO or SLOW" question starting to be slightly boring..

.
That's why NATO went to the NW this year (it was actually nearer anyway)
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

Re: CSCup & Trophy
Things were very different to usual here in the West Midlands with clubs from the NW, EM, SW and Wales all travelling although I don't think it did them much good as it looks like only WM clubs qualified for the final.

It did help WM clubs in the Cup though, as it meant all 3 qualified rather than the usual 2.
Thanks to DEE, NOC, DVO, LEI and NGOC for making this possible.

No it's not just you. We used to have a knockout comopetition with rounds (a la the FA Cup) but a large club complained that they couldn't win because they couldn't get their international stars out for the early rounds. So we changed to the current format and they now win every year and the whole thing has become a bit of a bore.
Has anyone else noticed how the rules change without anyone noticing. A few years ago a small club magically increased from 100 to 125 members and this year we have mens and womens courses on light and orange. I don't recall that as a news item in Focus or on the BO website. Strange really as it is the only whole sport interclub competition.

There might have been in 2010 when that change was made.

Re: CSCup & Trophy
I do recall seeing details somewhere at the time about the rules change re. juniors.
In my view a definite step in the right direction as they were definitely discriminated against in the previous version.
However, I think there is still room for improvement. For example, top year M18s can still run Light Green yet first year M20s have to run Blue. For some, 2 days difference in DOB can make a very big difference in what they have to do. Equally, there is a big difference in performance between first year M16s (may only be just 14) and top M18s, so running them against one another is a little unfair. Not sure what the best answer is. One approach would be to move M18s to Green, but as that is one of the biggest classes already it would cause other difficulties ......
At the other end of the scale, women move to Short Green vets at 60 and men not until 75. This 15 year age gap is massive, and it is rare (cannot recall when I last saw it) for a M75 to break into the top 10 on the course - certainly not at the last few finals or this year's WCH qualifier.
Maybe one way to make space for M18s on the Green is to move M70s from Green to Short Green Vets ? I accept the top M18s will win the course, but there are only a few of them. (Indeed, at the WCH qualifier a 1st year M18 runnimg up comfortably won the Blue by over 4 minutes.)
Not trying to be sexist and much of this also applies to the girls, save that 18s to 20s only have to go from Light Green to Green.
