Latest I have heard is that Trump may abandon the hotel and second golf course - all due to the pesky windfarm of course, nothing to do with him running out of backers with more money than sense! here's hoping he does stop now, or even better bugger off back to USA, and leave the remainder of Balmedie in peace.

The golf courses are what seem to get the attention, but they're just the landscaping for the 5 star hotel, 500 luxury houses & 950 timeshare flats (and no doubt some rather less plush accommodation for the staff), as well as "Trump Boulevard" whatever that might be...

As Malcy said, Aberdeenshire Council (narrowly, and bravely) rejected the plan, but were over-ruled by the SNP administration (aside: what exactly is the point of an independent Scotland if you're just going to sell out to rich Americans? ).

There is an apparent irony here in that Trump's proposed environmental devastation was justified on the grounds of job creation & economic development, and now he's using an "environmental" argument to protest against the windfarm, itself justifed on jobs / economic grounds... but in reality the objection is not that that the turbines will spoil the view for the golfers, but that they will reduce the value of the houses & timeshares - which makes the whole plan less viable.

I think the wind farm has come up in time to provide Trump with an out. The world is different to when this object first washed up in Dyce Airport.
