I might have to do some running when I'm in Whistler in Feb, so thinking of getting some spikes of some sort to add to my running shoes. Has anyone had any experience of kahtoola microspikes, yaktraks or any other kind of "mini crampon" - or how good are the inov8 orocs on hard packed snow (at least that's what I'm assuming the trails will be like)
Cheers

Dob spikes are excellent on hard packed snow. The ice has to become really glazed before they start to fail and even then there probably better than most things.

I agree with Eddie.
I did a lot of running last year in the mainly urban snow and ice in dob spiked O-shoes. The grip was really good. The only down side was if I was on a lot of hard ground, such as ice over tarmac, my feet felt a bit battered after a few days. Hard packed snow should have a little more give so should be better.

Yup, I agree too. Tried Yaktraks as Rob forgot to bring over my dob spikes, but they weren't a patch on dobs. Life improved significantly once they arrived!
Will? We've got proper fire now!

Re: Microspikes/YakTrak
bonus, can just take my dobs and save some cash
If I actually manage to make myself go running instead of snowboarding is a different question ...
