World of O, that fantastic source of worldwide orienteering news, has launched it’s 2011 competition.
Readers are asked to suggest a course from a competition or training in 2011, and state the reason why you think this course deserves to be “The course of the Year 2011″.
Add your suggestion here and use either a link to the RouteGadget of the event or search for it on the extensive World of O Maps section.
Be warned, that you might loose a few hours of your life when you discover the volume of interesting stuff you will find on the World of O website.
Did you run a course this year that you thought was excellent?

Re: Course of the Year 2011
All due respects to "World of O" but this is just the sort of discussion that used to happen here at this time of year, and should happen again - Course of the Year, Best Route Choice Leg, categories for forest and urban, and so on. A good time for seasonal reflection, and good to learn what competitors look for in a course/leg, so Planners can "raise their game" for next year.

That was the reason I posted the item, to get discussion started here, but also encourage people to share those thoughts with "World of O", there is nothing to stop posting to both. Plus there is a prize draw with free entries to some major events on offer at World of O to encourage you.
Raising the profile of British events on the world stage can only help attract more foreign competitors to events like the Scottish 6 Days, the JK and some of the top urban events. This would be good for competition and for attracting support from sponsors.

Re: Course of the Year 2011
I voted for the Sprint Race at Tralee held during the Scottish 6 Days - one of the options you can vote for!! It's worth a crack at these things - you never know when you might win (awards ceremony tonight in which Oban 2011 gets at least the Bronze medal).
Fac et Spera. Views expressed are not necessarily those of the Scottish 6 Days Assistant Coordinator
