I mentioned some time ago that the BOF website records no qualifications for me despite my having a certificate to say I'm trained as a level 2 organiser, have organised and/or planned enough events and have actually controlled at level C/D a couple of times.
I'm actually assistant to the assistant planner at Wallington on Sunday (where is that blatant plug icon?) -means I'm putting out the controls because the others have to be elsewhere but technically I'm not qualified to do even that task.
Looks like an area that is being slowly addressed so give them some time in the meantime i'll carry on regardless

Your username is your BOF number, and I think there is now a "forgot password" link to get your password emailed to you.

Yes ~ National office are obviously still catching up recording Event Safety Workshop attentances. Our club's training course that was held at the beginning of October has not yet been recorded.

Thanks. That's lucky i have no qualifications - does this mean i won't be able to organise the Great Malvern Urban Race on March 10th - you know the one that's part of the nopesport urban league?

If you want to find out who has done what for your club try this URL
http://www.britishorienteering.org.uk/index.php?pg=event_officials_report&evt_date_start_day=01&evt_date_start_month=01&evt_date_start_year=1999&evt_date_end_day=&evt_date_end_month=&evt_date_end_year=&filter_assoc=&filter_club=&show_org_name=1&show_con_name=1&show_pla_name=1&bFilter=1
Then just apply the filter to focus on your own club events. Obviously only a good as the data recorded

Re: Licence to Control
The non-renewal/renewal status for the various qualifications seems to have been sorted. The addition of a '*' means there will be automatic renewal. Just teething problems with the website changes!!
However, when a licence really is due to expire I hope it will be VERY clear what has to be done in order to make sure the qualification is updated if you want to continue with that qualification.

Re: Licence to Control
Things seem to being changed since this thread was started
The entry Controller Grade C 01/01/2010 01/01/2012 has been updated to show
Controller Grade C 01/01/2010 01/01/2012* An asterisk has been added !
It seems they needed a couple of attempts to upgrade the software.
So..... controlling licences automatically renew.. It's a shame they issued the email to Controllers warning them that their licences were about to expire.

Re: Licence to Control
Just received another email from BOF apologising for previous email and attempting to explain what it should have said. I'm now more confused than ever

Re: Licence to Control
I've just been talking to the Coaching Committee Chairman. It seems that the office have been doing 'things' with the qualifications database which resulted in some unwanted emails - which now appear to have been rescinded.
It's amazing how many people have never actually looked at their qualifications - until now.

Re: Licence to Control
It's now official ~ email from BOF just issued. It was a c*** ** , blamed on "the system" !
Now all we need is an explanation of what individual accreditations make up a tax disk for event organisers, controllers, planners and coaches !
I assume one key component is attending a Event safety workshop ~ are there any more ? Anyone know how this all fits together ?
Further to emails received (8th November 2011), there was an error with the automated system that meant people were contacted stating their licenses were due to expire. In most cases, this was not the case and the licenses will continue to be valid in 2012.
Licenses work on a ‘tax disc’ system where, if all components are valid and in place on 1/1/2012, then the license will roll forward. The emails had been wrongly sent based on the expiry date of licenses as 1/1/2012 and not the individual qualifications within the licences. In some cases, where individual licence components expire before 31/1/2011 then these emails will have been correct and the individual components require renewal. In all other cases, this was an error and we apologise. Please ignore the email reminder

Re: Licence to Control
1. the BOF system had a bug and kicked out an email (to a lot of people) in error
2. the data about controllers is not yet checked and ready for use, but will be soon.
3. you can forget about any controller licence reminder emails you may (or may not) already have received
4. when the time is right, and the system is ready, we'll be informed.
5. try to forget about this thread.
