Strategic plans
I think the Strategic plan of Corn Maze Orienteering USA would be far easier for most of the general orienteering public (even Kitch) to get behind than any of British Orienteering's various plans and strategies. I like their take on mapping too.

I'm pretty sure it was approved yesterday, so you had better go to the party!

Re: Strategic plans
As you can see, the map only needed a scale, a legend and an indication of the direction of magnetic north to achieve total perfection. (BTW, the lines are the paths)
Unfortunately, there didn't seem to be an event party
(at least, if there was, I wasn't invited). However, the maze was part of a 'Fall Family Fun' farm experience open to the general public and, as it was the day before Halloween, there were all sorts of other activities going on so I guess this was a substitute.
In spite of the light hearted approach, the event was very enjoyable and really challenging, in particular the routes from 9 to 10 and 16 to 17. If you've never tried corn maize orienteering, I can recommend it as a serious test of concentration. If you lose touch with the map for more than a few seconds, you could be anywhere.
Many thanks to RMOC for making me welcome at their events while I was in Colorado.
