Not so far from the truth. SBOC had a quite useful Aussie in their ranks last year. Andy Hill who was in the Australian JWOC team in 1999. He has gone back home however

Looks like both England and Scotland are following GG's example and pulling in Eastern Europeans. I hear they're pretty cheap.

The fees are only really noticeable if they speak English. I still prefer Thai though.

Is there any official announcement of the results of the SHI's?
I've looked at the results link and it gives the individual and relay results but no overall.
I would post something about this on the SOA website if I had some official confirmation and the scores. I'm wary of jumping the gun after reading the complicated scoring system and the potential for the obvious not to be correct.
Nothing on the British Orienteering website either, or was it all a dream and the SHI's are next week?

Considering that this is just the sort of news/discussion that some people think is missing from Nope, this thread has been very quite.

I think it is very obvious that Scotland won by a lot. I don't think people care what the exact score was as that means nothing. I would prefer to know about who won etc.

As I recall it was actually Berwick-upon-Tweed that was at war with Russia, not North Berwick. They've settled their differences now

Apologies guys i'm just the relay planner but I do have the final scores.

Part of the confusion with the scoring relates to what should be done in the event of a tie in either the individual or relay. I have been sent a copy of the SHI rules 2009 (unfortunately not on the BOF website yet - although this is be addressed). This now covers what to do in the event of a tie, but it was still not sufficient to separate England and Scotland for the individual day. They therefore share the Dolgellau Dish for the country with the highest points in the individual.

I enclose the relevant extract for information.

d. Tie.
In the event of a tie at Nation scoring, the relative placing of the tying nations' 5th / 3rd placed runners in each of the four classes in the individual race are to be used to separate the teams involved in the tie. If still tied then the relative placing of the tying nations' 6th M21 and 6th W21 are to be likewise used.
