Those of you who are on Attackpoint might have seen maps from last year's Canadian Champs at Carp Ridge and the Barrens. This weekend I got to run on the area for the first time, and it was incredible. Wide rocky hilltops, lots of lakes, with pinch points thick in vegetation and beaver dams to run across. The route choice on the course was great and it was pretty unique for places I've run.
Stephen Keyes and Peter Jones from Southern Navigators were also there, and managed to destroy their local rivals by quite a way!
The map of my course is here - it's great!

Were you allowed to canoe around the first half? Day 5 of Oban would have looked like that if sea levels had risen a bit.

Re: Amazing Area
Ha ha! There was a big controversy last year over whether the water was crossable, so this year anything with a black line around it was definitely out of bounds! Although I think most people, including myself, got a bath by accident in some really manky water after falling off slippy beaver dams.

Oh beaver dams, I had quite forgotten the joy of crossing them after warm up races for WMOC in Canada. Moreover, there were the punji sticks cunningly hidden in the long grass where they had chewed down the trees - I seem to remember promising to throw a rock at the next beaver I saw but I'm over it now or was till Becks mentioned beaver dams.............
I,m off for a lie down

hop fat boy, hop!

I don't remember any beavers, but Estonia remains the only place where I've ever encountered the "firm ground in marsh" control description. Three times on one course!

How does the Rogaine scoring system work. Are all controls the same value, or do they vary?

Re: Amazing Area
At the Worlds you just truncate - so 30 to 39 scores 3, 80 to 89 scores 8 and so on.
Winners scored 304 in 24 hours!! They don't stop - no sleeping and eat on the run!!
