Or if you really want to print it out on A4 and use a magnifying glass.

Reformatting into an A4 format is not going to happen, it took long enough to get where we are.

Why are people so obsessed with wanting to print it out themselves, when a perfectly good copy will be given to them?

I can understand those wanting to print it out, but not those giving you a hard time about it.

I'm beginning to wish I hadn't made it available to download in the first place.

Because a lot of people like to read it all (and discuss it all) before they go. In their armchair, or over breakfast, or sitting in the garden, or wherever.

I think some people are missing the point about the "barebones" event programme. The intention is for the programme to be a handy sized reference for people to take around with them during the week a la barebones Canada annual O festival. We will all get a nice shiny one when we arrive on Saturday/Sunday. If you want to print out reams of information beforehand, then all of the information in the programme should also be on the website (in more detail and with any frills etc) and you can print it out from there (A4 or whatever). If you are looking for info that you cant find on the website then let Paul know and he will I am sure be happy to either show you where it is or add it on if necessary. Paul has possibly spoiled you by showing you a version of the programme beforehand. I suspect he will not make the same "mistake" again.......

Has anyone else noticed the change concerning dogs in assembly?
Until now they were allowed. Having booked time off work, a cottage to stay in and put entries in on time I now have to find a way of looking after my dog. We are told that it would be OK to leave them attached to the car on a short leash. For hours!
I don't think so.
There is an ad for local kennels, but why should I now spend more money at this late notice.
I would not have made this huge commitment if I had known that dogs were not allowed. When I spoke to my vet this am he feels that the reason given is highly unlikely to happen (million - 1).
Orienteering is a sport that is ideal for outdoor people , a great many of whom own dogs. Why can't it be more accepting of them.

The dog issue has only become an issue in the last couple of weeks, and we needed to have meetings with landowners and vets to work out a solution that is acceptable to them. If we did not agree to these restrictions we would have been denied permission to use the areas.

The "ad" that you speak of makes it sound like we are getting a commission from the kennels and it's part of a plan, we aren't and it isn't. It was a response on Facebook from a local who saw that we had a problem and offered a possible solution. Would you rather I removed it and left you to find one yourself?

As one of the many people that have spent many hours trying to find ways around the problem, and now many more hours replying to comments and emails like this, I can assure you that we wish we had never heard of Neospora.

Unfortunately your vet isn't the one that matters, it's the vet that deals with the local landowners here, and they obviously have a different view. A Google search for Neospora will show that this issue is being taken seriously by many people.

From my experiences investigating this issue I suspect that it may well spread and lead to more and more locations banning dogs. So don't be surprised if you see these restrictions cropping up at more and more events.

I promise you that we did not set out to upset all dog owners, we are just volunteers trying to put on a great event for 3000+ people in the face of growing problems that are not of our making.

I can't see what all the fuss is about - well done to Paul and Co for a new format that I think will work well. You just have to get yourself organised so you know what you're doing and where you're going for day 1 and remember to stop in Dalmally (but if you forget it's not a problem as you can pick up programme and bibs at the event itself). It's a bit different from usual but surely most of us can adapt particularly if it means less volunteer hours stuffing envelopes etc.

I'm looking forward to a great week - have bought the special midge stuff from Avon so even those are not going to put me off.

I understand you have worked hard to sort everything out, but my 'beef' is the VERY late notice.
I have invested a great deal of money to attend the event. Money I would not have spent if I had known the present dog situation. I feel this should have been notified much earlier.
We had similar problems on the last day last time.

So I now have to decide whether to attend this year or forfit my entry and enjoy the open access of Scotland.

It will almost certainly be the last time I enter the 6 days.

Event car parks are next to or very near assembly every day but day 5. It is commonplace at many events I have been to for there to be restrictions on dogs. I have a cat which I love very much and out of kindness we pay money for it to go to a cattery when we are on holiday. She is nearly 18 now and I don't think all her Scottish 6 days have harmed her. It would be a pity if having a dog prevents you from visiting some of the best orienteering Britain has to offer but you really have to think about the wider implications on access for others. We have worked very hard to get around these issues for you but sorry you are inconvenienced on this occasion.

I'm tempted to suggest to all organisers of orienteering events that they start off saying that No dogs are allowed, and then if nothing has happened in the last few weeks before the event they remove the restriction. At least there wouldn't be complaints about the last minute change.

I suspect many will be in for a shock when they do get to study the programme to find they have 4km to trudge each way to assembly on day 5, plus upto another 2km to the start. It might be me but 10km for the younger kids and more mature may be a little too much on top of the courses. So glad we're not on the early start blocks!

We are concerned too and will try and see if there is some resolution to the problem. Note that it is an excellent route to cycle along and there will be a bike park. This has been one of the days where for whatever reason problems have continued to mount up. Everything else seems plain sailing.

I hope you can resolve this one as I don't fancy the extra mileage myself! Sadly Easyjet and bikes are not a match made in heaven, and 4+ bikes strapped onto/into the car is not an option so its Shank's Pony for a fair few of us!
