Re: JWOC 2011
JWOC Website is here. Whether there'll be live results etc., who knows! I presume WoO will have a liveblog running as last year (when Cristian Bobach on his phone posting on it was the only way we could get live results!)
Good luck team GBanterR!

The Americans asked and there's only live results, nothing else.
Good luck to the team!

Re: JWOC 2011
JWOC.tv (link at the top of every page on the website) has some good coverage of the model event and the opening ceremony.
Not so sure about the song though
Good luck to everyone in the Sprint which starts in an hour and a half.

Results up in the Online Center, some decent GB runs. ....and no Ukraine finishers at all so rumour appears to be correct.

Some great GB runs so far on the long. Mairead, Kris and Peter all currently in the top 10. Lots more results still to come in of course.

Re: JWOC 2011
Some really good results today!
Message from out there: Matt unfortunately lost his SI card before the start, wasn't able to run on his personal SI card and was told he was disqualified before he started. He was able to get a run after everyone else but on his timed start and dsq, so really gutted understandably.

Re: JWOC 2011
20.7 Competitors who lose their control card, omit a control or visit controls in the wrong
order shall be disqualified.
If the card was lost once he was in the system then dq is correct and it's obviously a big bummer.... if he lost before he was officially in the start system then there's something wrong somewhere... JWOC should have spare cards and / or one of the 6 GBR officials should have been briefed to cover this possibility..... whichever way, if he wasn't in the start system then he should have run.

Re: JWOC 2011
He lost it around the start area so he would've been in the system already I presume. Not questioning the dq but just a big bummer for him, as you say.

Re: JWOC 2011
I'm aghast at the bureaucracy! If you drop your SI card before you enter the start lanes and have its number checked, surely you should be allowed to use another one (a well-planned start team will have spares).
Or do IOF events never consider these kind of simple things which happen?
If Nadal left his rackets in the lockers, he'd be allowed to fetch them!

Re: JWOC 2011
Certainly when I ran the starts at the 2005 World Cup in the SE we had a stock of spare e-cards to lend to competitors that had managed to lose/forget theirs. Bottom line though is that the competitor has to be responsible for their own kit.

Re: JWOC 2011
Jo said she thought he was already in the start system... so dq is correct! There's a big difference between a JWOC and some bog standard local / national event or even a bog standard WC event..... like I said a big bummer

Re: JWOC 2011
But surely the rule Gross quotes is designed for losing your card after you've started? Is there also a rule defining what "started" means?
