This is really boring to watch. Way more boring than proper forest O'.
Will? We've got proper fire now!

Yup, nowhere near enough route choice available on the course to make it interesting - so no one is willing to take the risks to take a different route to the pack... maybe the finals will be better but on this viewing I'm not sure.
Having said that the men have just split going to #8 which is quite interesting to see how that pans out.

Lots of shouts for Scott out on the course which is good to hear though!

Re: NORT 2011
The problem with the route choice legs seems to be that the pack always goes quicker, even if their route is sub optimal. Dull dull dull. Fingers crossed for Scott though, he looked like he was cruising!

Re: NORT 2011
Seem to have missed most of it thanks to breakdown on the M8!
Is the mens finished? (Oh - here they are now sorry!)
I guess the obvious tactic now for the womens is to stick with the pack and plan your break for the run in!

Re: NORT 2011
By the way he threw his map to the ground, I would say disappointed is an understatement. This equals his best of 4th in a World Cup. Bronze would certainly have been better - but you can't ease up till you are over the line.
Overall I thought the programme was pretty good - but I am biased as I know the area, the language and a lot of the people involved. It would have been better for foreignors to have it in English of course - or at least with English subtitles. I thought the planning could have been better in places to split people more. It seemed that they didnt have much to say at times at the start but I think they warmed up. Helped having Helena Jansson there and Anders Garderud was good.
I do wonder how 'attractive' it is to the non-orienteer. Although I see football, cricket, snooker, etc. on the TV and turn it off as it bores me senseless. At least we could cheer for Scott. Even in Scandy, look at the crowds in the arena - not exactly many - i wonder what they did to promote it locally...not a lot I imagine looking at the numbers...

At World Cups of course the 6 top nations send 8 and the rest send 6. GBR qualify for 8 places only in the Womens. So we end up further down the results as better nations have more top people . At WOC we can get into that top 10 - 20 bracket with the occasional break into the top 10 as nations only send 3 + 3.
Arguably we dont have some of our best runners at NORT - maybe Craney, Oli J, (Speakey but currently injured, like others...) could well have done better!?? In the women's, these 8 are probably the best we have!?
But the Czechs and Ukrainians were also completely absent from this race, as was some other good runners for various reasons.
