JK2012 will be staged in West Lothian & Highland Perthshire,
Announcement on British Orienteering and Scottish Orienteering website confirming JK2012 locations. Hope to use Dunkeld as an event centre and social hub but better options for accommodation more towards Pitlochry. See http://www.highlandperthshire.com/

Mmmm I wonder if we'll ever be allowed to know how much of the BOF contract the SOA have signed up to?

Re: JK2012 will be staged in West Lothian & Highland Perthshire,
I hope that some of the changes we suggested become incorporated into the next version of the BOF Agreement. The changes were subtle (I know, unlike me, but I can be diplomatic!) but important. I would have no objection to Agreements being published on the BOF/SOA websites as I think there should be transparency in all of this. Dave and I really have worked well together and the words in the statement are accurate. There may have been (OK there were) politics over and above Dave and I that caused things to stumble along for a while but we are now focussed (apart from a bit of blurring with my involvement with various 6 Day events) on the JK.

There is a massive shopping centre 200 metres from the assembly area so fun for all the family.

What's the IOF symbol for up-escalator? Steps runnable in one direction?

There were certainly escalators on the 2009 London map because I went up one
Can't remember how they were mapped - Angry Haggis will know

I deliberately went for the escalator on one leg because I'd run past it on the previous leg. However, as I approached the bottom of it a large lady laden with shopping bags stepped on. There was no way past (at least, no polite way) and I decided that the chances of her breaking into a run in response to a tap on the behind were rather small. So my cunning plan came to naught and I ran up the stairs.

As steps, but only because there was an up and down escalator beside each other. If it was only in one direction I would probably mark it as OOB. The only-one-direction "trick" (to trap you in a store) probably only happens indoors.
Stop talking, start running.

Re: JK2012 will be staged in West Lothian & Highland Perthshire,
Following on from visits last week it seems likely that we will provide an event centre in Pitlochry. The Atholl Centre has Wi Fi, a conference room, big reception area and accommodation for up to 45 people. This accommodation is in double, twin, triple and family rooms and because of the set-up they would ideally prefer a block booking by a group and provide meals. Self catering is for a minimum of groups of 13 but must have a food hygeine certificate. In the absence of a JK website at the moment I am interested in any group who might be interested in the facility (see http://www.athollcentre.org.uk/). I am trying to get all-in rates rather than pick through the pricing.
The Atholl Estates (no connection) are the owners of Craig a Barns and they have asked me to publicise their accommodation options in Blair Atholl (just a few miles from Pitlochry). Please contact them directly if interested http://www.atholl-estates.co.uk/. I do know there is great camping but they have lots of other options. Please mention you are orienteers coming to the JK.
Big town hall in Pitlochry will take 140 or more for a ceilidh - I intend to book this too. Be warned - I have a kilt and scratched knees.

Hope the organisers have plenty of options for locking down the controls in Livingston!
During the Scottish years of my life which only ceased a few years ago, I have often stopped at the Moulin Inn, just above Pitlochry (about 20 mins walk) which is a great little pub with its own brewery and good bar food. They also do a varierty of accommodation.

I've just remembered that an old friend of mine has parents who live in Pitlochry -if I can find her address that's me and mine sorted.
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

That campsite looks great - but it is sooooooo expensive - anyone know of any cheaper alternatives? I'm thinking Dunkeld might be a better placed location.
